Technology Leadership

Cass invests in technology to enhance the user experience, increase data quality, improve processing speed, drive down production costs and provide continuity to all processes.

Delivering enterprise-grade reliability, scalability and business analytics requires a serious commitment to technology investment. With $1.5 billion in assets, Cass has the financial strength and stability to continuously invest in best-in-class technologies to support its operational needs and commitment to SOC 1 Type 2 (formerly SSAE 16 Type II or SAS 70 Type II) compliance.

Processing and Payment

State-of-the-art capabilities in invoice data capture ensure that every meaningful piece of data is harvested from your utility bill, whether in paper or electronic format. We continue to leverage our capital investment in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software and processes. Each vendor and field captured by the software undergoes rigorous quality-control testing prior to being put into production, ensuring an OCR field will yield higher accuracy than a human operator. To achieve average standard invoice processing cycles of .67 business days, Cass operates around the clock. Scanning takes place during the second and third shifts and OCR review/validation starts at 3 a.m.

Proven Methods Ensure Business Continuity

While Cass tests its business continuity processes regularly, the plan was executed most recently in September 2008, when the remnants of Hurricane Ike caused a disruption of the public power supply to our Columbus, Ohio facility. The Cass processing center was off the grid for two and a half days, but operations remained in production due to flawless execution of our business continuity plan, which includes activation of back-up power supplies.

Energy Reporting and Analytics

After using the most advanced methods possible to accumulate data, our energy reporting systems aggregate and normalize this data. This is all delivered to you through ExpenseSmart, our business analytics portal, which provides countless ways to view and analyze expenses by facility, vendor, utility type and much more.

Additionally, specific reporting modules are in place to help you measure your environmental impact, track your unique KPIs, and build custom reports.
